Maximum Oracle instances on a Server?

What is the maximum "SAFE" production instances that one should run on an Oracle 8.17 Server

Each instance has 2-5 users, 200 entered transactions/day. Varied Queries & Reads.

For a Dual CPU, 1GB, Dell Windows 2000 Server with a mirrored set of 2 striped drives each?
For a Dual or Quad CPU, 4GB, SUN Solaris Server with a mirrored set of 3 striped drives each?
