Oracle 8i installation on RedHat 7.1 hangs

I am trying to install Oracle 8i release 2 on my Pentium 4 PC running on RedHat Linux 7.1.

When i launch the runInstaller program, it doesnt do anything ... just displays a message saying that its launching the installer using the JRE and does nothing.

I am aware that there is a known issue with the JRE bundled on Oracle 8i CD and Pentium 4 processor .... i was able to bypass the bug on Windows 2000 installation ... but what is the solution for linux installation ?

Urgent help needed.
