Thanks. I found a lot of advices, but none of them includes a valid path to the patch. Where is it to be found?
And furher, I had a look at
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/nt_817_installguide /start/ch1.htm#1338318
And there I found that Oracle8i server can't be run on Win98. Is that true? If so, I really wonder what damn version I have found. Whose was that idea to use java for installer. Java was intended to control the microwave oven, not to install databases. Ondra

| Only the installer is written in Java, that the whole of Oracle is
| written in Java is definitely NOT true, don't know where you get that
| from.

| You must be running Oracle on a Pentium 4. There are known issues with
| the Oracle Universal Installer on a Pentium 4, the resolution has been
| posted in this group many times.
