You are not the only one with this problem with WY2K. If you search on the internet you will find lots people with the same problem. Nobody with a solution. Most of the suggested solutions assume that you have can access a database via sqlplus, but as you say this error occurs while trying to install the database.

 You may receive answers from "Senior DBA's" saying that it is your fault, because you have not read the documentation. If you ask where should I look in the documentation, where is the subject discussed - a deadly silence.

I would like to know what is the correct protocol (or incorrect protocol). Please " Senior Dba's" don't tell me everything just give me a hint. I am sure that my tsnames.ora, sqlnet,ora and listner.ora are incorrect but I don't know how to fix them possibly because they are generated by Oracle and the error occurs before I even have a chance to fix them.

Is there a small chance that under certain circumstances, I know what I am now going to say is heresy - is it possible that there is a bug in Oracle WY2K
