Hi there,

  It's quite straightforward... I don't see the need of standy database.

  1. At your new machine, create a database in Archive log also.
  2. Modify your controlfile to point to the new paths. Make sure the first line is such

    create controlfile set database "test" resetlogs archivelog     blah...

 3. copy all your database files and archive logs to the right locations.

 4. startup mount and run the controlfile script to recreate the controlfile.

 5. recover database using backup controlfile until cancel
