Oracle & NAS

I am trying to get oracle installed on both an 2000 server and a Linux box for oracle testing. The databases need to be on remote machines (NAS applicances). Putting the files on a mapped drive and/or nfs share (for the respected OS's) doesn't work due to Oracle wanting block access. I know NFS and CIFS don't support it so I am guessing there is some sorta client software that runs on the NAS appliance to give block access.

Any help would help :)
