Hi,

The path is not that strange. In Oracle 8.1.6 \oracle\admin\<db_name>\bdump\ is the default "background dump" directory on NT. Maybe the second "admin" is normal in Unix, or it is just mistyped.

Did you add a "#" before the ini-parameter "background_dump_destination". Then it is commented out and pointed to the default directory.
