The choice would then seem to be whether you want to spend your time putting out small fires (when a splinter of the database goes down), or spend your time dreading "the big one" when one of your OPS disk packs goes down.
  I do have to say, this has been a very constructive discussion so far (with the exception of a few cat-calls at the beginning).   ~Meee
