Oracle On Linux -- Install Is Just Aweful !!!

The Linux Oracle Install -- what a beast !!

I just received my Linux install CD's from technet Thursday. Oracle on NT installs really easy & quick. The install of Linux was so cool- i was thoroughly impressed !!!

The Oracle for Linux install is just aweful! Even when i went to technet and read the install update notes. Its says that this doesnt work and that doesnt work and that i'll have to go to some other site to get this jre version and then over to redhat for another download...

All i've got is Redhat 6.1 straight out of the box and i've got to do all these other things... which i did and i'm still having linking problems. There's all these other sites on the net from people who've managed to get it to work and they've posted the various work arounds they've discovered....

EVERY DAY i read the newsgroups and see postings where people are having Linux install problems.

This is NOT the way that a company as large as Oracle should be releasing software. This is ridiculous !!!

Its just so disappointing that Oracle has done this. I really feel they've dropped the ball with respects to the Linux install CD's !!!!

Oracle was even offering a promo deal directly from the RedHat corporate site...

and from what i've read... Linux development at Oracle is even done using RedHat... but you can't even give us a CD set that works without having me go thru all this crap ???

So.... Hey Oracle... the Oracle RDBMS on Linux can be a really great thing... Get your act together !!!!
