I presume you are talking about a SUN Enterprise 2000.

The amount of memory you need depends on your application and your tuning, but the more memory you have the better as it won't get wasted (Solaris will use it as file cache).

Bare minimum memory is 128MB, but look to at least 512MB, or as much as you can afford.
