I'm not too sure how you're planning to use synchronous replication for failover. It REQUIRES the two systems to be available, otherwise DML will fail.

I tried to have a look for referencable customers, but every site I found with this sort of information only listed replication, not the type of replication. Of course, I'm not in sales so I might not be looking at the right place! Try bouncing the question off your sales rep to see if they know more about where to go.
