Hi.

 The size of the tablespace does not have any connection  to performance, but the I/O spread does.  Look at description of Oracle Flexible Architecture  ( OFA ) in documentation.
 Try to get a number of drives ( as many as possiple )  and to split your files according to OFA ( that a start ).
