Thanks Andrey and Sybrand.

I can get this to work now ... if the instance was shutdown through svrmgr30. (And therefore the services are still running - though not doing anything)

The trick was to alter the strtsid.cmd file to only start the services - not the instance. Then the above worked like a charm.
