To perform hot Oracle backups using Solstice backup, you'll need to purchase the Solstice Database Module for Oracle (SDMO) from Sun. You'll also need to configure the Enterprise Backup Utility (EBU) from Oracle. Confirm that the supplier is shipping the correct version of SDMO for your database.

If these are not an option, the "Oracle Backup and Recovery Handbook" from Oracle Press (usually included in shipments of the server software) includes a script to perform hot backups. You might be able to incorporate this into Solstice Backup, although I've never done that.
