I don't want to make this an UNIX vs NT debate, so I won't reply to your Post. What I do want is...Based on your year(s) of experience, why would you put a 24x7 database (in your case, I am to assume that downtime is unacceptable) on an NT box? I can understand in situations where the Company doesn't have the budget for implementing an UNIX solution, nor the means of hireing an UNIX sys admin, but it seems this is not the case in your situation. Are you getting a kick back from Bill Gates or something?

I, in no way, mean to insult you. I merely want to understand your situation and your view on this matter. I will take your reply into consideration.
