Deadlock - why ?

Hi.

My Oracle server reports a deadlock when I try to logon to my DB from a client workstation through SQL*Plus. This happens with all users except SYSTEM. There is no problem when I try to logon from any other application.

I have tried this from several workstations, all the same.

A tracefile my server created reports of a : {
Deadlock among DDL and parse locks is detected. ORA-04020: deadlock detected while trying to lock object SYSTEM.PRODUCT_PROFILE.
...
...

}

Does anyone have an idea of what causes the deadlock, or how to find out ?

Thanks in advance. Received on Thu Oct 22 1998 - 09:49:50 CDT
