Sorry I've can't remember which issue, but InformationWeek had an article on how some companies have experienced some significant financial losses because of Windows/NT. The article said they were switching to a more reliable Unix solution.

The original reason stated for going to NT was the lower up front costs and the belief that maintenance would be easier. In the end because of frequent down time they experienced loss of revenue. Most now only use NT systems to support their web pages.
