My "Me too".

I would say that Unix Outperforms NT, but with the speed of the latest WinTel boxes, that may not be entirely true.

Pros/Cons

NT is easier to manage. Everything GUI

Unix is faster than NT. If you have to support a lot of users or need 24x7 uptime Unix may be the best choice for you.

Unix is more mature than NT. That doesn't dictate higher reliability, but it can. This really is a vendor specific issue.

NT will probably cost less to administer. I don't know the commanding saleries of administrators, but I suspect that NT administrators are a dime a dozen.

Unix administration can require more training and expertise. This is another vendor specific call.

NT is typically better suited for a lower end installation, where Number of users is <50 (my opinion)

Tuning NT essentially boils down to throwing bigger and faster hardware at it. <- I think this should be in the Certification Tests for MSCEs. :-)

Unix can be tuned for application specific implementation, which could in turn provide much better responce, but will most likely be more expensive to setup and support.

I'm a Unix advocate, but I find NT is easier to support. --
