Transactions per minute

This may sound unrealistic, but is there a rough rule of thumb for
deciding transactions per minute (maybe tpmC) for an OLTP system per
user.



Obviously a lot depends upon the application, but was wondering if there
is a median value which designer use for a quick and dirty shot at
deciding hardware etc..



Like maybe 2-4 tpmC/per concurrent user ?



All responses shall be appreciated.
