Create DB and error 07331

I've recently installed an Oracle version 7.3.3 database on a sparc LX workstation with 48 megs
of ram. When trying to run a create database command I get the following error:

ORA-07331 smsnsg: unable to allocate the variable portion of the sga additional information: 4

I've tried reducing the number of processes in the init.ora and a couple of other things. Is this crazy to think that I'm going to get Oracle running on a unix platform with so little memory? The error manual suggests reconfiguring the kernal to get a bigger segment size, is this even possible?

Thanks,
