One thing I've recently found on the OCIS (UK online customer information system) is that Oracle 8 will continue to support Rule Based Optimisation. Development of RBO will terminate, but some fixing will still go on where:

  1. The RBO returns the wrong results or
  2. The RBO crashes in the optimisation phase.
