this is exactly what i wish to do. however, just resetting the ORACLE_HOME variable (and all the others, for that matter) to the 9.2.0 version does not allow me to access my 9.0.1 databases. there must be something else i'm not doing. please note that all i have done was to install the 9.2.0 software, and that's it. i haven't done any kind of database creation under the 9.2.0 version whatsoever. i simply want to use the 9.2.0 to access the databases in 9.0.1 and eventually i will uninstall the 9.0.1.

perhaps you can tell me where the these files are located? if my database is called 'mydb', am i wrong to assume that these files are located under /opt/oracle/admin/mydb/? i have not found any version-dependent files under /opt/oracle/product/9.0.1/!
