Oracle Connection Manager

Hi,

we are running a net8 firewall proxy between an application server and a database server.
how can i verify (using the application server) whether the Oracle Connection Manager (CMGW) on the proxy server is available and listening to port 1630 (also if no active connection is etablished between proxy and app-server).
We are not able to verify that situation on the proxy directly due to security policies.
