Classic.... Search Archives, Read The Fine Material. Hints:
- can you connect using the correct sql*plus version?   (The one that came with the database?) - is the database up-and-running? can you 'connect internal'  using svrmgrl? If so, what is the response (idle instance is bad) - and he answer about sqlnet's network vs. net80 is valid: Dev6i   is a 8.0 tool, and uses net80.
