Central Database Administrator - Bedford £45K Ref: A1/13633
The Environment
Our client has three product streams; two utilise Oracle and one SQL
Anywhere to support applications running in schools, colleges and Local
Education Authorities (LEA). These three streams are rapidly approaching
deployment as SQL based systems and there is now a need for an in-depth
centrally located database administrator.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience as an Oracle
DBA with in-depth technical experience. The task will be to work with
development teams who utilise PowerBuilder, VisualBasic and Delphi as well
as Crystal Reporting, providing an ad-hoc service on best use of relational
databases, their design and maintenance.
You must be able to diagnose and fix performance problems, perform and
advise on database recovery and backup, perform SQL audits and recommend
"SQL good practice", as well as being able to troubleshoot database issues
and performance problems.
In-depth experience of SQL Anywhere would be a distinct advantage.
The Person
As this task lies within a multiple development team environment, the
successful candidate will be personable and able to build relationships and
trust with technical staff. Some travel will be required between our
development sites in Bedford and Exeter.
Terms and Conditions
The post is based in Bedford, salary is in the range £40,000 to £45,000.
