The 1997 Developers Competition ... Continued...

                  Things are heating up!

Though it's only been a couple of weeks since our first email on the 1997 Developers Competition went out, excitement is mounting, at least among the Internet community, as our "email-box" is filling up with requests for more information. We're hearing from a number of companies interested in sponsoring the competition, too, including Magic Software, APPX, USoft, Centura Software (formerly Gupta), Informant Communications Group, and others. If you are interested in sponsoring and haven't already contacted us, please do so soon as we are planning on closing out sponsor slots by the beginning of June. Where are you CA, Microsoft, Big Blue?

                 An Internet Gold Medal!!

For the first time in six competitions this year's event will have a Gold Medal category for the best Internet enabled application in the competition. That's right, one ounce of pure gold stamped with the competition logo will go to the team with the best Internet solution to our charitable organization's problem. Silver and bronze medals will also be awarded in this category as will Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in our four other Gold Medal categories: Rapid Application Development (RAD), Client/Server (C/S), Object Oriented Programming (OOP), and Graphical User Interface (GUI). These Gold Medals are in addition to the total cash awards of $10,000.

Even though it may seem early, October is not that far away. Competitors who get their completed, paid applications to us before our next Web update will have their team information posted at our Developers Competition Web site at:

No insults towards the opposition will be tolerated, but hyperbolic bragging is encouraged. Let's see who can TALK about cranking out the code when the chips are down and the pressure's mounting and who can actually DELIVER. Also, sign up now and you can pre-pick your team number, even name it if you want to. (Remember, teams in the front row always seem to get the best television coverage. Hint: Low team numbers = exposure).

We need you to provide, Team Member Names and Company Names, Language to be Used, ranking in previous competitions, and a list of any other competitions for which you have received awards. If you want to provide a "boast" you may. Be sure to include your top 3 choices for team number. Paid applications will receive first choice of team numbers.

If you can't make a final decision about competing in October, but still want to reserve a team number, we will hold your number until August 1st, 1997. Send us the same information described above and we will slot you in.
