Grants and Invalidations Question

Have GRANT statements in Oracle always caused invalidations? If not, when did that change?

Have GRANT statements in Oracle always caused invalidations? If not, when did that change?
I know REVOKES cause invalidations but I could have sworn that initial GRANTS didn't cause revalidations and I'm wondering if I'm wrong and it's always been that way, or if that behavior changed somewhere? (or I'm having a Mandela Effect moment.....)
