  as a general source of information I'd recommend https://andreynikolaev.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/latches_and_mutexes_in_oracle_12c.pdf especially 'Divide and Conquer the Mutex Contention paragraph'. Having said that keep in mind it is a fixing from wrong side. Regards.
