Am curios to check with you, have you tried with 12c new feature ? As i see the methods you are using they are upto < 12c.
RMAN> recover database from service ‘prim’
Anyhow internally it has to perform backup but at least we can avoid such issues as performing incremental roll forward multiple times.
Regarding this feature probably you can check below link of section “The new generation - incremental roll forward of standby”
