I have been using the broker without issue for the past 4 years in both 11 and 12. I will say it was a bit of a pain when my DR server died (never to come back) and I had to manually remove the remnants of the broker config in my prod databases before setting everything back up for a new DR server.
The one issue/caveat I ran into is that I believe you cannot have cascading/daisy-chained data guard databases when using the broker (though I have not looked into that recently).

Oracle db 11.2.
When we set up our systems about 9 years ago the DGBroker was nicknamed DataBroken and there was a feeling not to use it so we didnt.
I'm not entirely sure what the bad points were but
am I right in assuming it is now a reliable, mature product?
