ASM & split-mirrors

About to do our first split-mirror processing where we clone a copy of the DB, and the DB resides on top of ASM. Have done this plenty of times, but never with ASM. Looking for information on this process, and not finding much. Opened case with MOS; they only have provided document #1476731.1. Any help would be appreciated.
