I have 2 old pcs setup on my home RAC test environment. Both of them are 866 Mhz pentium 3 processors with 512 Mb RAM with two 10/100 Mbps PCI ETHERNET NICs. I use crossover cable between the nics for private interconnect. And for shared storage(a separate old hard disk) I use iscsi. My OS is OEL 5.3 Initially, I installed RAC with base version 184.108.40.206 and later patched it to 220.127.116.11 and then upgraded it to 10.1 With 512 MB RAM, thats the max I can go. 10.2 requires minimum of 1GB RAM. I'm the only user using the RAC, so you might have to plan the load for 5-10 users.
