I'm not recalling which version you're dealing with, but this works ok on 10g (just tested on 10.2.01 on Redhat ES 4 VM on a MAC). I do see what your talking about in the documentation. I have attempted to generate a transportable tablespace set in which all dependent objects were not in the tablespaces specified and that export failed with errors. I don't have access tonight to a 9i database to test, but I suspect the same would happen in this case. If so, in order to move forward with transporting that tablespace, I can't think of any other way than to drop the function based index in advance of the tts operation and create it on the target side when finished.
