Doesn't exp also refuse to overwrite the existing dump file? I consider this a safety feature.

If a prior export failed then remove the output files before restarting. If you have written a job you want to run daily then generate the export file name so each day you get a different file name or if you insist on reusing the file name then remove the file prior to starting the export as part of the task.

Subject: parameter to overwrite dump file when using expdp

Hi,

When running expdp if the dumpfile already exists we get the following error:

ORA-39001: invalid argument value
ORA-39000: bad dump file specification
ORA-31641: unable to create dump file "/space/backup/hs.dmp"
ORA-27038: created file already exists

Additional information: 1

Is there any way to force overwrite the existing dump file?

Thanks
