Maybe some 3rd party software will only work with 9i or 10g?

Aside from the supportability, there's the CASE statement and some = analytics, manageability, some bug fixes, as well as help positioning us = for RAC, if needed. OK, that's way too broad to be of real help, but = it's a starting point!
