I would like to see some dialog on the following issue : Is there a "need" to cycle an Oracle database ? and if so how frequently ?

IE;
Can you and should you keep a Oracle database up and running continually for 3, 6,..months?

I have always thought that it is a good idea to recycle an instance weekly (if you can) to cleanup memory and take a cold backup. Received on Thu Dec 07 2000 - 13:47:43 CST
