Babu:

Login to the Sun as oracle8 (or whichever account owns the database) and = type=20

ulimit -a

What value do you see for vmemory? If it is not unlimited, ask your = sysadmin to bump it up as high as you can manage.

Hope this helps.

Hi
=20
I have suddenly started experiencing this error on my dev database =20
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4096 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","STANDARD","PL/SQL MPCODE",
"BAMIMA: Bam Buffer")
=20
This is 816 on Sun. Is this a case of excessive fragmentation in the = shared
pool? Or is the shared pool itself too small. =20
