We also have Developer Server to serve the forms/reports. This *is* a separate product from Developer 2000 and requires separate licenses (which are NOT cheap, so much for the free runtime theory). If anyone has a better way of actually getting Oracle Forms off of the web I'd love to hear how....

Our configuration works well for us. We have two production apps, one of which has 1600+ users across the company although no more than 10 connect at any given time. The web sure is a slick way of deploying!

My biggest piece of advice in regards to the Developer Server.... run multiple servers (separate ports) if you have a lot of users. We have one port per application, per environment, i.e. app1 on production = port 7000, app1 in test = port 8000, app2 in production = port 7001. It makes tracking somewhat simpler and if one goes haywire the others won't be affected.

Also, keep an eye on those pesky web processes, they can get confused and become hogs (of cpu, swap space, etc.).

Hi listers,

What do I need to enable my developers to access my database (read, update etc)
via the company intranet.
Is it that I need the application server and designer 2000/developer 2000 to create the forms?
Are there any drawbacks?

Regards

Nigel Thomas
