Audit Trails in Oracle applications.

Hello all,

We paln to use SQL*Forms 3.0.16, Oracle 7.1.4 to develop an application. Is it possible to provide for audit trail feature with the following details

for updates,

• The fields that have been modified have to be stored
• old and the new values of the fields
• the user who modified and
• the date the record was modified.

For inserts,

• the user and
• the date when the record was inserted.

The second part (for inserts) can be thought of. For example, userid and date can be stored with each record(only master record in case of master detail transactions). But i am not getting any idea as to how to provide only the fields that have been modified.

Any suggestions / hints would be welcomed.
