I think this will be a key feature of a solution providing integrated temporal support, as the evolution of the schema must be accessible much   as the progress of the data through time is of interest.

However in the current situation (i.e.. pre-temporal), I find little to trouble me with the tools at hand today. All my "schema" mods are (1) scripted, (2) infinitely rerunnable, (3) accumulatory (including data migration aspects) and (4) domiciled in a source code management system.

What does amaze me, although I fully appreciate the genesis thereof, is the sheer number schema extract, compare and synchronise tools that exist. Not only do they feed of the untidy minds of today's average A/P, sadly they maintain it as an apparently credible way to operate!
