Why make an exception to the flow of reading when you don't quote inline - why quote at all if you expect everyone to skip the quote?
If it is just easy to have the original post at hand while writing just delete it before sending the reply.

By making your writings easier to read you help to reduce misunderstandings. It may even help to make reading this newsgroup pleasant - ok that may be to optimistic :-)
