I am working on a database prototype, could anyone tell whether it is correct to build it using a star schema rather than fully normalised. Reason for this is that the user input is rather small but the DB will be mostly used for reporting and extracting subsets of data via the web. All reports will rely heavily on ratios and have time and geographic dimensions.
I do not want to build a dedicated OLAP solution because it seems overkill for the amount of data at this stage.
Can anyone suggest a design route? Normalised, Star Schema, Data Mart?
Thanks
