Thank you for the answers so long, function-based index may be an option. DECODE etc. is too slow, it would not use the index, too, beside the fact it is a varchar2() column and not a number. But I wonder there isn't an easier way, I think this is a situation that will often occur. Isn't there a storage parameter for the index (NULLS FIRST), or any other setting that avoid Blanks being trimmed... Received on Tue Jan 28 2003 - 07:03:25 CET
