I'm trying to migrate from 7.3.3 to 8.0.5. After trying unsuccesfully several times with the Migration Utility and the Migration Assistant, I'm wondering about an alternative. What would be a disadvantage to doing a simple export (.dmp file), remove Oracle 7.3.3, and then install Oracle 8.05. After that's all up and running, recreate my tablespaces and users/roles, followed by importing the .dmp file. Wouldn't that be a rather simple solution compared to trying to understand Oracle's documentation?
