Re: How to use MS ODBC drivers for Oracle

I had a big problem setting up the ODBC. I finally typed in the alias name from the sqlnetv2.cfg as the connection string. I am new to Oracle and using a test database. My configuration is as follows:

SQL Net settings:
SID: ORCL
SQL Net alias name: Fred

ODBC settings:
Created a new connection. Created a new data source - Oracle 73 ODBC driver with name and description of "test3." Connection string is Fred.world. I named the datasource and picked it from the drop down on the Connection Driver screen. Didn't put in a userid, password, or database. When I connect it asks for the userid and password.

Hope this helps. Took me half a day to figure this out and it was only dumb luck I got it to work. I have Oracle Workgroup 7.3......
