Oracle DBA's Needed--Virginia

             Oracle DBA - 6 month contract - Arlington, VA

Successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day administration of the Oracle RDBMS including both system level and data level security.

The candidate will perform Lead Oracle DBA duties on one or more DoD projects in a predominantly UNIX environment running the Sun Solaris operating system. Work will be done in a team environment supporting Operations, System Development, and Deployment to customer sites.

Candidates must have a BS degree (or equivalent experience) including at least 3 years' experience in Oracle Database administration on UNIX servers in a Sun Solaris environment. Candidates should also have the following knowledges, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of DBA guidelines, standards and procedures for applications development, implementation, testing and migration.

The ability to install and configure Oracle server instances and perform performance tuning.

The ability to develop and maintain a strategy for backing up databases.

The ability to create, manage, and troubleshoot Oracle databases.

Knowledge of SQL in an Oracle environment.

An understanding of database schemas, tables and forms.

Industry knowledge of database tools and vendors.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Position also requires U.S. Citizenship the ability and willingness to acquire a U.S. Government granted security clearance. The position is primarily located in Arlington, VA (within walking distance of Metro stop), but may also require 10% travel.

Desired Skills: Oracle Database Certification and familiarity with database development is a plus.
