My favorite is Oracle Unleashed. It is 1,400 pages and covers almost everything - SQL*PUS and PL/SQL, the database engine, utilities, application development and tuning, accessing Oracle via Delphi, VB and SQL Windows, the precompilers, OLE, ODBC, networking products, and adjuncts like Webserver and PowerBrowser, Designer/2000, Developer/2000, PowerObjects, etc. It also goes into a little detail on the product offerings: Personal Oracle7, Workgroup/2000 and Oracle7 Server. Well worth the $60 price tag!

It is relatively concise yet has breadth and depth to satisfy neophyte to advanced user.

Favorite book for a DBA crossing over to Oracle is "Understanding the Oracle Server" Krakovsky/Prentice Hall.

The book Oracle - A beginner's Guide is also pretty good. Received on Tue Oct 15 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
