Advice: Oracle 6 -> Oracle 7 conversion

I have an old Oracle v6.0.31.2.2 DB running on a standalone 486 using 
Oracle's protected mode executive. The machine has MS windows 
3.1 installed. I want to extract the data from the v6 DB and put it 
into an Oracle v7 DB. What's the best way? One more complication: 
the PC is 2000mi away, so I was hoping to have a backup tape sent to
me, and extact it from there. Will this work? Is there a better way?
