Just a quick note, not sure if it applies to your situation but here goes...

I administered several Oracle 7.1.6 databases using Aix 3.2.5 on an IBM SP/2 and we also had a problem with oracle seeing and using all the memory we had available to each node. It seems that there was a limit in aix of 256 meg, basically what we had to do was relink the Oracle executable and give it a different starting memory address. Maybe you can somehow apply the same technique to your situation.
