I have religously followed the oracle install instructions and continue to have problems ... can some one help me ???
I am attempting to install oracle server , sql plus and Pro*C on my RS6000, using the default responses to the installation script. Using single mount point, file system based database.
The script fails during the create database phase when the svrmgr is first run. I get the error
ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact. Could not load program oracle Relocatin entry number 0 is defective in ksh Error was: Exec format error.
The database doesn't get created. My compiler, OS, ld, etc work just fine in Informix, Ctree, and hundreds of thousands of other lines of code.
In poking around I find that the 'oracle' has been relinked by the install script, and I do not know why since I have used all the default answers. If I replace the newly built 'oracle' with the original, svrmgr runs, I can run the create DB scripts and can get up and running. SQLPlus runs as well but gives me errors, at startup ... I assume since it is only partially installed.
The local oracle guy, suggested I start over with a clean install, that was several clean installs ago ... I am sick of this ... It cannot be this hard. Help.
Thanks, In Advance !!!
